Cedrus libani - Lebanon -Zeder
Cedrus Lebani, known as Lebanon-Zeder, is a majestic needle tree species that is native to the mountain regions of the Mediterranean area, especially in Lebanon, Syria and Turkey. This impressive cedar not only has an outstanding botanical significance, but also plays an important role in the history, culture and economy of the region.
Cedrus Lebani is an evergreen tree of impressive size that can reach heights of up to 40 meters. The needles are needle -shaped, stiff and arranged in tufts. The cones are egg -shaped, about 8 to 12 centimeters long and have characteristic, woody dandruff. The bark of Cedrus Lebani is initially smooth, but becomes cracked over time and develops a silver -gray color. The tree top is pyramid -shaped and contributes to the majestic appearance of this cedar. Cedrus Lebani prefers highs of 1,000 to 2,500 meters above sea level and thrives in mountain regions with calcareous soils. The species is adapted to drier conditions and plays an important ecological role in the forest ecosystems in which it occurs. The cedar offers habitat for various animal species, including birds, insects and small mammals. Its root system contributes to the ground stabilization and prevents erosion in the often steep slopes.
Cedrus Libani has long cultural and historical importance. In many ancient cultures, the wood of this cedar was used for the construction of temples, palaces and ships. The Bible mentions the Lebanon-Zeder several times, especially when building the Salomon temple. The cedar was also used in medicine and religious rites, which underlines its versatile cultural importance. Although Cedrus Libani is protected in some protected areas, the species is nevertheless endangered by various threats. Overuse of the wood, slash and climatic changes can have a negative impact on the stocks. Conservation measures such as the creation of protected areas, sustainable forest management and reforestation projects are crucial to ensure the future of this impressive tree species.botany
