Lichtkeimer vs. dark germ
Light germ
Light germs understand plants whose seeds need light to germinate. These are often very small seeds, which can be easily carried through the wind, which, however, are not available enough energy to penetrate a thick layer of soil. In the sowing, the seeds are only loosely sprinkled on the substrate and slightly pressed on.
Dark cucumber
Dark germs are understood to mean plants, the seeds of which need darkness to germinate, in which light tends to inhibit germination. In fact, dark germs simply react to other light components or other spectral areas of light. Exactly those that can also penetrate the upper layers of the soil. Dark cucumber is often characterized by larger and heavier seeds, because the seedlings need energy to penetrate the earth layer and get to the surface.
